The Yale Arab Alumni Association (YAAA) was founded in 2007 as a shared interest group for Yale alumni and affiliates. Their new community-centric website features a lot of dynamic content and functionality, such as a mailing list, registration for YAAA members, newsletter subscription, and several messaging interfaces. It also makes uses of Ajax for a faster and better browsing experience.

Bras for a Cause aims to raise awareness about breast health and help women who have had breast cancer in a fun, creative campaign. This is one of their undertakings, destined to raise awareness about the campaign and attract attention to their contest. It is an online bra maker, where the website visitor can customize his own bra from many choices given, and then post it on Facebook. One of the challenges in implementing this app was to organize and load intelligently the needed images from the 400+ choices! The easy to use and responsive interface (designed by Maya Zankoul) hides this complexity rather well. Try it out on the link below.

29 Arabic Letters is an Arabic Type Design and Typography firm, founded by Pascal Zoghbi. Today (Thursday 12th of May, 2011), sees the launching of his book “Arabic Graffiti” an extensive and valuable reference on contemporary graffiti, urban calligraphy and type design in the realm of Arabic letters. This website is centered around its content and backed by an extensive administrative interface.

The Zankoulizer allows you build your zankoul avatar online, choosing from a collection of hair styles, eyes, face, mouth, etc… Once it’s done, it can be mailed to yourself or someone else. A copy of of the avatar will be generated on the server, and sent as a PNG mail attachment. There is also a VIP section where visitors can request a limited edition custom-made avatar from the artist (Maya Zankoul).
The page makes use of Javascript, with PHP on the server side. Some aspects were challenging, like being able to generate the image on the server, or having the browser download 40 or more images (all the choices) in an orderly and reliable fashion. Thankfully it all worked out well and was ready for the opening of Maya’s new office.

WKTM hosting
…just started operating. The server is located in Germany and provided by Hosteurope, which has a better latency than American servers. It is now used for emails mostly, but in the future it should be used as node.js and mongodb enabled host.

Ana Corberó is the fourth generation representative of a family of Barcelona artists & master artisans. Her great grandfather worked with Gaudí for his wrought iron designs and had a trio with Pau Casals. Her grandfather was Spain’s topmost liturgical artisan, and her father is a sculptor whose work can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
I was proud to work for this artist, and am also proud of my work. It is completely dynamic (with the exception of the landing page) - listings, text pages and galleries can be generated through the custom-built (from scratch), lightweight CMS, which gives a high level of control to the user.

Joseph Tehini et Fils was founded in 1900 in Beirut, Lebanon. JTF are the second oldest MAN diesel engines agent in the world, since 1936. The website features a product builder which enables the visitor to build the product online. The product builder is complex, connected to a database and modified from the admin. Le site web de l’association Libanaise pour le développement des ateliers d’écriture (ALDAEC ou Kitabat) est mis en ligne. Ce site est a majorité dynamique et permet au client de mettre en ligne, entre autres, des informations sur les atelier d’ecriture futurs est aussi passés, incluant les textes qui furent ecrits pendant ces ateliers.
